ANNOUNCING THE HOME-CALL OF VERY REV. MSGR. PATRICK SOMI

It is with gratitude to God for a life well spent, that we announce the home-call of The Very Rev. Msgr. PATRICK SOMIDE, who departed this world at about 11:15pm on Thursday 13th July, 2017 after a brief illness.
He was aged 97years.

He was ordained a priest during the Marian Congress in 1954. It has pleased the Lord to call him back home during the 2017 Marian Year in Nigeria. He has served God and His people in the Archdiocese of Lagos for 63years in different areas of life of the Archdiocese. He was the oldest priest in our Archdiocese and certainly one of the oldest if not the oldest in Nigeria.
Until his death he was in residence at the Catholic Church of the Resurrection Magodo, Lagos.


Funeral arrangements are as follows:


TUESDAY, 1ST AUGUST, 2017 9 am: His remains leave the mortuary for the Catholic Church of the Resurrection, for lying-in-state. 12 noon: Holy Mass: 2 pm: His remains leave Magodo for St. Agnes Magodo for St Agnes Catholic Church, Maryland, for lying-in-state
6 pm: All-night Vigil of Masses begins: Chief Celebrant: His Grace, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins Homilist: Very Rev Msgr. Philip Hoteyin
9 pm: Holy Mass: Chief Celebrant: Very Rev. Msgr. Bernard Okodua Homilist: Very Rev. Fr. Felix Onemeghie, OP

WEDNESDAY, 2ND AUGUST, 2017
12midnight: Holy Mass: Chief Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Gabriel Adeleke Homilist: Rev. Fr. Paul Adekoya
3 am: Holy Mass: Chief Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Anthony Orioha (Chaplain, St. Rita Society) Homilist: Rev. Fr. Anthony Orioha
6:30 am Holy Mass: Chief Celebrant: Rev. Fr. Anthony Fadairo (Dean, Maryland Deanery) Homilist: Rev. Fr. Anthony Fadairo.
Immediately after Mass, the remains leave for Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos.
10 am: Holy Mass: Chief Celebrant: His Grace, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins Homilist: Very Rev Msgr. John Aniagwu

FINAL COMMENDATION: His Eminence, Anthony Cardinal Okogie Interment follows immediately at Ikoyi Cemetery.


In union with all who mourn his passing in the sure hope of the Resurrection, as I raise a fervent prayer of suffrage, seeking the maternal intercession of Our Lady Queen of all Saints and St. Rita, I commend the soul of this wise and faithful Minister of the Divine mysteries to the merciful hand of God our loving Father.
Let us remember him in our prayers and continue to offer Masses for the repose of his soul.


May God grant him eternal rest and a place of peace.
