It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart but with strong Christian hope that we announce the death of our brother and priest REV. FR. CYRIACUS ONUNKWO who was abducted on Friday 1st. Sept 2017 and was found dead the next day, Sept. 2nd 2017. He had gone home to Orlu Diocese to prepare for the burial of his father who had died a few days earlier on 30th August 2017 when he was abducted.

Until his death, he was a Fidei Donum priest from Orlu Diocese serving as Associate Parish Priest at St. Charles Parish, Olodi-Apapa.

Our sympathy and ardent prayers are with the Bishop, Priests and People of Orlu Diocese as well as his family who are also grieving the death of the father of the family who died the same week.

Funeral arrangements will be communicated as soon as it is concluded. Meanwhile let us all continue to offer Mass for the repose of his soul and the consolation of all who mourn especially his family that are also mourning the death of their father at this same time. All priests are particularly reminded of their obligation to celebrate Masses for his repose.

May the Lord grant eternal rest to Fr. ONUNKWO as we console ourselves with the assurance of our Christian faith in the resurrection of Christ and our hope of resurrection. May our Blessed Mother Mary, Queen of the Clergy, intercede for him and all who grieve at his death.
