Accepting Christ
By Rev. Fr. Francis Babatunde

Stephen confronted the people with the truth not minding its cost, because he allowed the Holy Spirit envelope him, and had little or no fear for the consequences of his actions. Due to his truthful nature he was given the privilege of gazing into heaven and seeing God’s glory. Though he was been stoned to death, he willingly accepted his death and was granted a place among the saints in heaven. In the gospel narrative Jesus confronts the people with the bread of life discourse. Jesus reaffirms himself as the bread of life which gives life and spiritual nourishment to those who receive him worthily and sincerely. Jesus invites us to his banquet at every liturgical celebration of the Holy Mass daily, because he wants us to have life and not hunger again, such that having been filled with him we shall be transformed into what he wants of us.

Prayer: Grant us O Lord the nourishment of your body daily that we may gain eternal life. Amen.
