The gift of salvation has been made available to us all. God desires all men and women to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. In his love, he invites us to his banquet knowing that we cannot pay him back. Isaiah 55:1-3, God invites us to come eat and drink, to buy honey, wine and milk at no cost; to come and drink from his fountain. He invites you and I even in our incapacities, as caused by our sins. The reason for this is because, as St. Paul says in the first reading, "God's gift is irrevocable." God desires our salvation and often goes the extra mile to invite us, to initiate the covenant. The ball is in our court to either heed this invitation or to decline. His gift is ever available; his wisdom is deep; we cannot fully comprehend why he does what he does. We can only pray with the psalmist "open my eyes, O Lord, that I may consider the wonders of your law." Amen.
