Dare to be a Daniel
By Rev. Fr. Francis Babatunde

From the first reading, we see Daniel taking, together with his 3 friends, a decision to abstain from the foods of the Babylonians. Together, they chose to stick to their traditions so as to remain pure and honour God ultimately. Such courageous decision is worth emulating. In the face of corruption, immorality, secularism, atheism, faithlessness, and a prosperity-crazy world that is detached from the cross of Christ, Christians and Catholics must dare to be a Daniel. Rather than opt for the pleasures which these worldly ways offer, we must choose to remain pure and unstained, giving God our all like the poor widow in the gospel.

Prayer: Father, in the face of so many evils, I want to, by the help of your grace, remain unstained. Amen.
