We touch Jesus through the Sacraments
By REV. FR. MATTHEW PLACIDE NOUGBODE

“They begged him that they might touch the fringe of his garment…” the fringe refers to the tassels the Jewish men wear on their cloak in accord with the Torah; it reminds them of the Commandments of God. However, we have something more than just the fringe of his garment, we have Jesus himself. The touching of his garments prefigures the signs of the sacraments through which healing is brought to our souls. In the Sacraments Jesus touches us personally and we never remain the same persons since we have the hand of the potter on the clay again, he makes all of us new. Let us always prepare to receive the sacraments devoutly, for through them we have a serious contact with Jesus.

Prayer: Lord grant us the grace to always receive the sacraments worthily and experience its saving effects in our souls. Amen.
