The Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lagos, Most Rev. (Dr.) Alfred Adewale Martins has enjoined the Papal Knights and Medalists in Nigeria to prioritise the career and job concerns of young people in the Church community.

The prelate gave this charge yesterday at his welcome reception for the members of the Association of Knights and Medalists in Nigeria (APKMN) held at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos. Prior to their 16th Annual National Conference scheduled to hold from same day Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th November,  2024 in Lagos.

Expressing his deep appreciation for the Knights' and Medalists' dedication and hard work, he emphasised the crucial role they can play in nurturing the next generation of the Church's clergy, religious and lay faithful.

The Archbishop said, "As esteemed members of the Church community, I implore you to take keen interest in the career and job aspirations of our young people. Your mentorship and support can make a profound impact on their lives and families as well as the future of our Church and society."

Most Rev. (Dr.) Martins' heartfelt appeal to members of APKMN underscores the important role they play in shaping the future of the Church and society. The high-ranking cleric stressed the need for the Knights and Medalists to foster an environment of inclusivity and facilitate job opportunities for young people to grow and thrive in their respective professional pursuits.

Archbishop Martins' welcome reception for APKMN was a resounding success fostering a sense of unity and purpose among the lay faithful and clergy.

The President of APKMN, Sir Steve Adehi, SAN, KCSS in his remarks expressed surprise at the exceptional reception hosted by the Archbishop and Archdiocese of Lagos. "Lagos Archdiocese has a reputation for churning out magic. Our plan was to pay a courtesy visit to the Archbishop. But here we are  being hosted to a wonderful welcome and sumptuous reception. We extend our sincerest thanks to the Archbishop and the Metropolitan See of Lagos. Thank you for the fine welcome that will be etched in our hearts forever," he said.

The event marked the commencement of APKMN's 16th Annual National Conference in Lagos. It also served as a testament of the enduring legacy of the Knights, Medalist and the Archbishop's unwavering support for Mission.

The Knights and their female counterparts departed with renewed spirits, inspired to continue their noble endeavours.
