RECONCILE WITH YOUR BROTHER BEFORE OFFERING TO GOD
By FR. KENNETH MEREH

Gifts are usually given as a sign of solidarity. It is given to strengthen the bond of friendship. When we give gift we give out some part of us to show to the receiver that he or she is part of our lives. This is even more true in offering sacrifice. Sacrifice is meant to strengthen the relationship we have with God. As such it will be absurd to attempt to have friendship with God when we are not in good terms with our brothers and sisters.  No wonder Stephen prayed that God should not hold the sins of his persecutors against them (Acts 7:60). He did this because  our Lord Jesus has shown us that the purpose of offering Himself as a sacrifice is to reconcile men with God, and men with men when He said, Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing (Luke 23:34). And so our offering will not be a holy offering pleasing to God if we hold grudges and resentment against our brothers and sisters.

Prayer:  God Our Merciful Father, grant that we may offer a pure sacrifice pleasing to you by being at peace with our brethren. Amen
