Religious Syncretism
By Religious

If you consult google on what Religious Syncretism is about you will find a section that says this: “Religious syncretism exhibits blending of two or more religious belief systems into a new system, or the incorporation into a religious tradition of beliefs from unrelated traditions. The consequence, according to Keith Ferdinando, is a fatal compromise of the dominant religion’s integrity.” The consequence is as true as the rising of the sun. Joshua calls the people to a serious commitment to the Lord and not to have a synthesis of allegiance. Today, a lot of persons plunge themselves into this act believing that by that action, their present and future is assured and secure. It is unfortunate that these kinds of things creep into the Sacred Liturgy of the Church [especially in Nigeria] and a lot of persons buy into this falsehood. It is either a Catholic Church or not – we cannot have a mix. It is either Faith in GOD or not – it cannot be a blend with something else. In fact, to have a mix of this kind, in matters of Faith and the truth of GOD’s omnipotence is a sign of intense cowardice. So, like Joshua prompted the people of his time, the same Scriptures prods us to choose, in full knowledge of the stakes, whether to be a faithful believer or a merger of different belief systems.

PRAYER: Yahweh, you alone are GOD, may your name be held Holy now and always. Amen.
