When last did you pray for our country and the government? Most of us spend time criticizing the government, cursing and wishing them bad but cannot spend five minutes to tell God to guide and direct them.
In today’s first reading, St. Paul urges us to make supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving for everyone, for kings and all who are in high positions. God wants us to pray for our leaders and wish them well. As Christians we must not be in the habit of wishing evil for our leaders. We must genuinely pray for them and ask God to direct them. As a group and as individuals, St. Paul wants us to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument.
Prayer: Lord, in obedience to your words, we pray for our leaders and all that they may be guided by your spirit. Amen.
